Sepsis Alliance Updates Mission Statement

Sepsis Alliance, the nation’s first and leading sepsis organization, is pleased to introduce a new mission statement:

Save lives and reduce suffering by improving sepsis awareness and care.

Our former mission, save lives and reduce suffering by raising awareness of sepsis as a medical emergency, could be seen in practice throughout sepsis.org and the actions of Sepsis Alliance all over the country. In the past 10 years, Sepsis Alliance also saw an increase in awareness of sepsis from just 19% to 65% of U.S. adults knowing the word “sepsis.”

The inclusion of “improving care” can already be seen in action through the launch of programs such as The Sepsis Institute and Sepsis Coordinator Network. Both programs are designed to help healthcare providers improve sepsis care and outcomes in their practice. The Sepsis Institute also provides continuing education credits through a variety of sepsis training modules, covering the continuum of care.

Sepsis is often treatable, but it must be recognized and treated early. Sepsis Alliance’s dedication to improving sepsis awareness and care will save lives.
