I had sepsis in 2017, following gallbladder surgery. (Sepsis and Surgery) For 3 days I teetered on the edge until they discovered the right drugs to kill the infection. I don’t remember anything of this time or the following week although my poor husband, Nigel, does, and still has the times when he has to talk about that time!
I have been left with post sepsis syndrome in as much as I have periods of brain fog, lasting periods of fatigue and then I can’t function mentally or physically. (Sepsis and Post-Sepsis Syndrome) But I have had an unexplained bonus from the sepsis, I think. I have started to draw pictures and portraits on wooden boxes using a soldering style iron. I have never had art lessons and have never drawn before but have developed a talent for this and am beginning to receive orders for them, which is something good from something horrible. The poison raging through the brain must have hit my creative centre!! Hurrah.
