I thought I had the flu in October of 2022 so I stayed in bed for 2 days with severe abdominal pain, vomiting and body aches. I wanted to call the ambulance in the wee hours from the Friday night into the Saturday, my husband however did not think it was a good idea. He didn’t want the fire truck and all the first responders to show up! At 8am on the Saturday morning a friend stopped by and took me to the hospital. I could barely stand. I was admitted right away with a blood pressure of 50/62.
I really did not know what was happening at all and after IV hook-ups and tests I was sent to the ICU. I was not permitted any visitors my entire hospital stay. Besides the hospital traumatizing experience, including the inability to get myself to the washroom, the intervenes and hydro morphing of the needles and fluid retention. The pain killers had me hallucinating and started an internal bleed from their strength. All this as well as excruciating pain.
When I got home I could not sleep or eat. I was very uncomfortable and had major fluid retention. I was home for a week and then re-admitted. Fast forward to 3 months post sepsis all my hair was falling out. This happened for about 2.5 months and I lost about 50 percent of my hair if not more. It’s been 10 months since I had sepsis, I don’t know what is wrong with me. I am tired, unmotivated and feel depressed. I don’t want to socialize or see people and only want to be alone. I work full time and went back to work only 6 weeks post sepsis (was it too soon) 🤷♀️ I feel bad for my husband who wants to do things and takes offence when I say no or that I want to be alone. I currently have a UTI which also scared me, I never had one before, but now I feel scared about getting ill. I have never been one to lie around, as I was always on the go! And now I can barely get out for a walk. I have gained weight and just feel defeated. I don’t know what to do!
