So this happened to me. Right before Christmas I had a lot of lower abdominal pain and felt like I had to pee constantly. I went to the Urgent Care near me because it was a weekend. They assumed it was a UTI and called in a prescription for an antibiotic which I took until it was gone. About 3 weeks later I started having the same sensation so I went to my primary doctor. She sent off a urine sample and called in a prescription for antibiotics. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections)

My pharmacy failed to deliver my medication until the next day even though I called them twice to explain the urgency of getting the antibiotic started. I took the first pill and about an hour later I was lying on my bed wracked with pain in my limbs and freezing from the chills. I couldn’t get up all day. I couldn’t eat, sleep or go to the bathroom. I’d vomit if I stood up. Finally around 8 hours of that, my partner called an ambulance. I was in sepsis and my blood pressure was dangerously low. I spent a week in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. I got pneumonia a couple of days into my stay. What a frightening experience! Please do not wait if you suspect a UTI. It could cost you your life.
