Greg B.

After voluntarily checking myself into an alcohol recovery inpatient program, I started having severe stomach pain. Having already detoxed at home over a week ago, I knew it was something bad. I had sepsis once before from an infection in my colon.
The rehab folks kept saying it’s just detox. Finally 24 hrs later and threatening to check myself out, they finally took me to the Covid filled hospital emergency room. They said, it’s detox as I rolled in the floor screaming in pain and dripping with sweat. Well 3 days later after my intestine had been perforated for 12 hours, my BP finally was undetectable and I was in and out of consciousnesses. (Sepsis and Perforated Bowel)
Emergency surgery was performed and the intestine repaired but I was too unstable to close and I was given less than 5% chance of survival. All organs were compromised. They finally tried dialysis, at the advice of my daughter, who is an ICU pharmacist. It worked. I slowly started getting better. Multiple fistula repairs later I’m home and thankful to be alive. Too many complications to list. All severe, some are better, some not.
