Deborah Simmons

Survivor

An undiagnosed UTI became septic resulting in the amputation of both feet and arms plus a collapsed urethra and the loss of my colon. (Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infections, Sepsis and Amputations) I had no standard UTI symptoms, only slight lower back pain over my kidneys, which I blamed on lifting boxes. Pain got worse. Husband said I should go to urgent care, but like many people I said it would get better on it’s own. Lesson learned: It’s better to go to the doctor and find out you didn’t need to go than to not go and potentially end up like me, a quad amputee. I am so happy to be alive.
