Unlocking the CBC: A Novel Marker for Early Recognition of Severity of Infection
January 12, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Date: January 12, 2022
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 PM EST / 11:00 am – 12:00 PM PST
Description:
Severe sepsis kills more than 700 people a day in the United States. The complexity of this condition paired with the variability in presentation of patients makes sepsis a tremendous challenge for providers working to recognize it and implement time-sensitive therapies. In order to provide the right care to the right patient at the right time, systems and processes need to be well defined. This webinar will focus on early recognition strategies, including the Monocyte Distribution Width (MDW) marker, a novel component of the CBC differential, for determining the severity of infection. Case studies will be used to demonstrate how MDW can help differentiate the severity of infection from other causes of respiratory and circulatory problems.
