Sepsis Alliance Voices Advocacy Training: Maternal Sepsis: Raising Awareness to Save Lives
November 20 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Date: November 20, 2024
Time: 3 PM ET/12 PM PT
Description:
Maternal sepsis is a life-threatening condition arising from infections during pregnancy, childbirth, post-abortion, or the postpartum period. Tragically, between 2014 and 2017, infection or sepsis was responsible for 12.7% of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States. Prevention, early detection, precise diagnosis, and rapid treatment of pregnancy-associated sepsis are critical.
Join us for this panel, where Elliot Main, MD, will focus on the burden of maternal and neonatal sepsis, the importance of vaccinations as a preventative measure for infection in pregnancy, and the role advocates can play in debating and supporting public policy related to maternal and neonatal health. Two maternal sepsis survivors will also share their experiences.
The panelists will then share how you can contact your lawmakers to prioritize maternal sepsis education and awareness.
