Sepsis Alliance Connect: What is a “Ceremony of Loss”?
April 28 @ 8:00 pm - 8:45 pm
Date: April 28, 2025
Time: 8 PM ET/5 PM PT
Description:
In 2024, Leslie Green and Rev. Larry Lutey, both amputees, came together with an idea. While many individuals experiencing limb loss were often grateful to have survived the circumstances that led to their amputations, they can struggle with the need to grieve the often sudden loss of a part of their bodies. This loss can significantly affect their identity and lifestyle. In response to this need, they created the first Ceremony of Loss.
During this Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, we invite you to learn how this ceremony was developed, what it entails, and how you can use this framework to grieve the losses in your life from sepsis – whether it involves a limb or something less visible.
