Sepsis Alliance Connect: Infection Prevention for Cancer Patients
December 11 @ 11:00 am - 11:45 am
Date: December 11, 2024
Time: 11 AM ET/8 AM PT
Description:
Cancer is a term that describes several diseases that can affect just about every organ and system in your body. Cancer cells are abnormal cells that multiply in an uncontrolled fashion. Having cancer and undergoing certain treatments for cancer, such as chemotherapy, can result in a weakened immune system, putting you at higher risk for developing an infection that could lead to sepsis. Infections and sepsis can also appear differently in people who have cancer, sometimes leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment, and increasing the likelihood of poor outcomes.
In this presentation, learn how cancer patients can minimize their risk of infection, recognize signs and symptoms of infections and sepsis, and realize when they should seek care from a healthcare professional.
