Sepsis Alliance Connect: Healthcare Associated Infections
October 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Date: October 16, 2024
Time: 2 PM ET/11 AM PT
Description:
A healthcare-associated infection (also known as a healthcare-acquired infection or an HAI) is an infection contracted in a healthcare facility, such as an acute care hospital or a skilled nursing care facility. Even a doctor’s office or clinic can be a source for an HAI, which can lead to sepsis. Anyone can get an infection, but many people in hospital environments have a higher risk of getting an infection because of chronic illness, age, or other risk factors. Hospitals and other healthcare facilities also add extra risks, including concentrated exposure to germs and invasive interventions and devices.
In this presentation, learn about the types, causes, and treatment of HAIs, as well as precautions which can be taken to help prevent these infections from occurring while receiving medical care.
