Date: November 16, 2021
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 PM EST / 11:00 am – 12:00 PM PST
Description:
Sepsis remains the leading cause of death in U.S hospitals and more than 1.7 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with sepsis each year. Sepsis survivors have a shortened life expectancy, are more likely to suffer from an impaired quality of life, and often experience impaired cognitive and physical function. The recently published Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) 2021 Adult Sepsis Guidelines amongst many other recommendations, for the first time also include long-term recommendations for the care of sepsis and septic shock survivors. During this presentation Drs. Evans and Simpson two of the authors of the guidelines will highlight and review the current recommendations and changes from previous 2016 recommendations for the screening and treatment of sepsis and septic shock in adults.
