Healthcare-Associated Infection Mini-Summit
December 10, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Date: December 10, 2020
Time: 12:00 – 3:30 pm ET / 9:00 am – 12:30 pm PT
Description:
Despite attention and improvements, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) remain a challenge to healthcare professionals. According to the CDC, one in every 31 patients has at least one HAI each day. The Healthcare-Associated Infection Mini-Summit will offer a 3-hour clinical program on several topics in the area of HAIs to provide current clinical knowledge and recommendations for infection prevention and treatment in order to improve clinical outcomes. Appropriate use of antimicrobials will be addressed to promote antibiotic stewardship.
This educational activity will be comprised of lecture presentations by subject matter experts, including a question and answer session with each presenter. Presentation topics include:
- Healthcare-associated pneumonia – including both ventilator-associated and non-ventilator associated pneumonia;
- Clostridium difficile infection and intra-abdominal infection;
- Surgical site infections – including prosthetic joint infection and cardiac device infection.
The Mini-Summit will be offered as a free live event with 3.6 continuing nursing education contact hours through Sepsis Alliance’s accreditation with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
This event is supported by an unrestricted medical education grant from Merck to Sepsis Alliance. All event speakers are participating on a voluntary basis; participation does not indicate a relationship between the speakers and Merck or other Sepsis Alliance supporters.
