Rom Duckworth
Rom Duckworth is a dedicated emergency responder, author, and educator with more than thirty years of experience working in career and volunteer fire departments, hospital healthcare systems, and private emergency medical services (EMS). Rom is currently a career fire captain and paramedic EMS Coordinator for Ridgefield (CT) Fire Department. He is also the founder and director of the New England Center for Rescue and Emergency Medicine and an Advisory Board Member of Sepsis Alliance.
Rom is the co-author of the chapter on sepsis for the Advanced Medical Life Support education program as well as Sepsis Alliance’s “Sepsis First Response” and “Pediatric Sepsis First Response” education modules. Rom is the recipient of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Presidential Award, the American Red Cross Hero Award, and a Sepsis Hero Award from Sepsis Alliance. He was also awarded the EMS 10 Innovators Award for his work in sepsis education.
Rom is the author of the “Duckworth on Education” column in EMS World Magazine as well as chapters in more than a dozen EMS, fire, rescue, and medical textbooks, and over 100 research papers and articles in fire and EMS publications. A member of several national and international advocacy and advisory boards, Rom continues to work for the advancement of emergency services.
