Hildy Schell-Chaple

Hildy Schell-Chaple, PhD, RN, CCNS, FAAN, is a Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing. With a distinguished career at UCSF Medical Center, she has held roles as a Critical Care CNS, Patient Safety CNS, and Director of Clinical Practice and Research. Dr. Schell-Chaple has dedicated her career to advancing sepsis detection and management, training nurses and advanced practice nurses on sepsis pathophysiology, early detection, evidence-based interventions, patient/family support, and systems improvement. Her clinical research focuses on managing sepsis-related symptoms and organ dysfunction, and she has published extensively on these topics. She is passionate about education and systems design of ambulatory to critical care settings on the early detection and appropriate interventions that positively impact outcomes for adults and children with infection and sepsis.
